Hands Free Calling & Music Streaming

If you have to make a phone call while driving, go hands free. It’s not only easier than trying to juggle a phone while steering but it’s also the only legal way to do it in many states. Most 2016 and up cars offer Bluetooth technology, which frees your hands by wirelessly connecting your phone to the car’s audio system. But if you own a vehicle that doesn’t have it, you can still take advantage of the technology by changing the factory radio or adding compatible blue tooth devices.

There are many different ways to be able to do hands free or Bluetooth calling

Installing a New Radio

The best option for adding Bluetooth or hands free to your car is to install a new car stereo that includes Bluetooth or offers an adapter to include it. Depending on the stereo you select, you can control many of your Smartphone functions and music streaming from your stereo. When you select a radio with built-in Bluetooth, you don't have to install a separate hideaway adapter box and other equipment.

Bluetooth can be found in more and more new stereos. That means you won't have to buy the most expensive stereo to get one with this wireless technology, depending on the vehicle you have and the new radio you get you may also get additional features like USB/ AUX/ SD Card/ DVD/ NAVIGATION/ BACKUP Camera and much more.

Vehicle-Specific Bluetooth Adapters

A vehicle-specific Bluetooth adapter is an interface that connects to a vehicle's factory stereo.

Installation at times involves removing the vehicles factory radio, connecting the Bluetooth adaptor cable to the vehicle wiring and the radio, afterwards installing a microphone for hands-free calling. Caller information shows up on the factory stereo's display it also allows you to answer and place calls using the stereo's controls, the microphone clips onto your sun visor or mounts somewhere on the dash, and you hear callers over your car stereo speakers.

This is a good option when you want to keep the factory radio. Although it involves some installation work, you end up with a Bluetooth system that's fully integrated into your car stereo for hands-free phoning. Many of these systems can handle music streaming, too.

Universal Bluetooth kits

Universal Bluetooth kits work in any vehicle. Some, like the Parrot MINIKIT Neo, are simple, stand-alone devices with a small speaker and microphone that clip to your sun visor and have no interface with the car stereo at all. These are nice because you can move them from one vehicle to another. The downside is that their use is pretty much limited to hands-free calling.
